Dr Nik Co-authors award winning "Best Paper of the Year 2024"

The Use of Hyaluronidase in Aesthetic Practice: A Comparative Study of Practitioner Usage in Elective and Emergency Situations

Dr Nik and his esteemed colleagues from Australia and around the globe planned to write this paper at the ASCD conference in Melbourne back in March 2022. It took over 2 years to complete and recently won the "best paper of the year 2024" award from the Aesthetic Surgery Journal and will be presented to the authors at the Aesthetic MEET in Austin, Texas in March 2025.

Dr Nik and co-authors met to discuss the topic after the annual ASCD conference. As a group they decided to investigate the use of the enzyme, Hyaluronidase which is used throughout our industry to dissolve hyaluronic acid dermal fillers in both emergency situations and also in elective procedures. However, there are no formal guidelines in how to use this very important drug in our practice as medical aesthetic clinicians. The group decided that it would be of great use and importance to explore current ways that peers are using the drug and to come to a consensus and provide recommended guidance on its use.

The paper called "The Use of Hyaluronidase in Aesthetic Practice: A Comparative Study of Practitioner Usage in Elective and Emergency Situations" was published in the ASJ and had over 20 authors. It is considered an important work and reference, which was designed to give other clinicians a guide in hyaluronidase use - hopefully making their medical aesthetics practices safer.
